The flavours of lime and lemon are totally correct, but it is the chalky texture, largely from the acidity, which is so appealing - and which gives rise to a 'enjoy to 2025' recommendation on the bottle, which I agree with."

"Pfeiffer Wines 2013 Riesling offers an intense citrus fruit flavour, with lemon and lime on the mid-palate with a crisp acidity to finish. The nose abounds in lemon and lime scents, while the wine is a bright, pale straw colour. A blend of two parcels of free-run juice, each of which were fermented seperately in stainless steel tanks for approximately two weeks at temperatures ranging between 13 and 15 celcius; the wine was blended, stabilized, fined and clarified prior to bottling. According to Pfeiffer this wine can be enjoyed now ir it can be cellared for up to 10 years until 2023.”

"Recently it was a Pfeiffer Wines 2013 Riesling which hit the table and if it's a sign of what is to come, it's time to get excited. Like a breath of fresh air, this Riesling delivers with its bright, pale color, waft of white citrus blossom and lime fruit. It's an incredibly fresh wine with lemon fruit and fresh fig flavor, a clean dry palate and mellow mineral finish. Anyone who enjoys a dry white with crisp finish is going to love its versatility with food, especially seafood, and I'd love to see what it's like in five or ten years time if you could resist opening it. But unfortunately patience is not a virtue any of the females in my neck of the woods seem to share."

Vintage The lead up to vintage 2013 was promising, with dry conditions throughout the growing season.  January 2013 saw temperatures soar, causing sugar levels to rise rapidly, and a return to an early February start for vintage.  Reds particularly ripened early, and we actually commenced vintage with our 2013 Carlyle Vineyard Shiraz (the first time a red has been the first variety harvested at Pfeiffer Wines). Unlike the 2011 and 2012 seasons, there were minimal rain events throughout the 2013 vintage, allowing for a steady receival of fruit and less pressure in the winery.  The dry autumn also allowed full maturation of our fortified varieties, with Muscadelle for Topaque being picked at the end of April.  Overall, quality is high, particularly in the red and fortified varieties, with the wines showing great colour, ripe fruit flavours and good length of flavour.
Winemakers Comments A blend of two parcels of free-run juice, each fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for approximately 14 days at temperatures between 13° & 15° Celsius.

The wine was blended, stabilized, fined and clarified prior to bottling in early May 2013 to lock in fruitfulness and freshness.

Our 2013 Pfeiffer Riesling is a bright, pale straw colour.  The nose abounds with lemon and lime fruit. The palate is dry, with intense citrus fruit flavour on the mid-palate, and crisp, refreshing acidity.

Partners Extremely versatile, able to handle both delicate and strong flavours. Superb with seafood.
