What Is An Apera? |
An Australian apera is an invitation to adventure!
An apera can be enjoyed as the sun goes down and it is the ideal way to ‘open up’ the appetite in preparation for a meal. It is the perfect pre-dinner drink to share over a light bite, in the company of friends and sometimes can last longer than dinner itself! An apera can be elegant and dry or fruity and fragrant. An apera can even be muddled together with other liqueurs and syrups to be enjoyed as a seriously good wine cocktail. The most enjoyable moment is simply deciding when it is apera o’clock.

Winemakers Comments |
The Pfeiffer Seriously Pink is a fresh, fruity, fragrant, fun seriously pink apera. It is a wine to be enjoyed as an aperitif or on a lazy afternoon. The fruit sings from the glass, while the influence from the spirit is there in the background adding a touch of complexity. |

Technical Notes |
The red grapes for the Seriously Pink were co-fermented on skins for 3 days before pressing into stainless steel tanks, for further fermentation. The Gewürztraminer was fermented in a stainless steel tank. In both cases, fermentation was stopped using an aromatic brandy spirit, leaving a sweet wine of 16% v/v.
The wine was blended, cold stabilised, fined and clarified before bottling, to lock in the freshness and fruitfulness of the wine. The colour is pink, or should I say seriously pink – vibrant and bright and very inviting. The nose is fragrant and fruity, with summer berries and a floral lift. The palate is clean and refreshing, and like last year, does not pack too great a punch, only fortified to 16% v/v. |
