"There are four classifications of Rutherglen fortifieds of topaque (the old tokay) and muscat - this one is the youngest blend moving through to classic, grand and rare. This has exciting, fat, juicy honeyed apricot and toffee-like flavours"

“The wine we once knew as Rutherglen Tokay is no more. Of course, it’s still the same luscious fortified white partner to the famous Muscat, but international obligations demanded a name change. That said, this is an absolute cracker, a gorgeous sweet white blended to within an inch of perfection. It’s more than just a sugar hit: the typical succulent sweetness is balanced by an interesting and intriguing dry, spicy flavour. A rose by any name….”

Winemakers Comments Each year Rutherglen Topaque grapes are havested at high sugar levels. This wine is then transferred into barrels and casks of different volumes (generally for anything between 2 and 5 years for this Rutherglen classification). These parcels are then blended to produce youthful, fresh wines some some complexity and concentrated flavours.

The Pfeiffer Rutherglen Topaque is a fine example of this classifiction and displays honey and malt on the nose and a slippery, luscious palate with loads of flavour.
