Tony Love, Days Of Wine And Chocolate, Herald Sun, 19th March 2013 "There are four classifications of Rutherglen fortifieds of topaque (the old tokay) and muscat - this one is the youngest blend moving through to classic, grand and rare. This has exciting, fat, juicy honeyed apricot and toffee-like flavours"

Paddy Kendler, Herald Sun, June 2009 5 STARS “The wine we once knew as Rutherglen Tokay is no more. Of course, it’s still the same luscious fortified white partner to the famous Muscat, but international obligations demanded a name change. That said, this is an absolute cracker, a gorgeous sweet white blended to within an inch of perfection. It’s more than just a sugar hit: the typical succulent sweetness is balanced by an interesting and intriguing dry, spicy flavour. A rose by any name….”

Winemakers Comments |
Each year Rutherglen Topaque grapes are havested at high sugar levels. This wine is then transferred into barrels and casks of different volumes (generally for anything between 2 and 5 years for this Rutherglen classification). These parcels are then blended to produce youthful, fresh wines some some complexity and concentrated flavours. The Pfeiffer Rutherglen Topaque is a fine example of this classifiction and displays honey and malt on the nose and a slippery, luscious palate with loads of flavour.
